I’ve written a couple of times about the plight of an Israeli gay man who is genetically related to twins born to a surrogate in India. This article reports that Dan Goldberg will be bringing the children to Israel on Friday.
Heterosexual couples using surrogates in India have apparently been allowed to bring their children into Israel after blood tests conducted in India. But in this instance, a judge who seems to have been motivated by his disapproval of homosexuality refused to order the necessary blood tests to be done. (It appears that the tests had to be conducted pursuant to a court order.)
The case became something of a cause celebre and even the Prime Minister was moved to comment on it, favoring the rights of Dan Goldberg. One can only hope it will be smooth sailing from here.
